ACCESS Authorized Scaffold User Training
The ACCESS Authorized Scaffold User Training Program is designed for workers who use scaffolds as part of their daily job duties but are not responsible for erecting, modifying, or inspecting them.
Scaffolds are found on virtually every industrial, commercial, construction, and maintenance worksite. While scaffold erectors and inspectors receive specialized training, scaffold users also have a responsibility to understand the hazards, limitations, and safe work practices associated with the scaffold systems they use.
ACCESS was developed to provide workers with the knowledge they need to exercise their Right to Know and make informed decisions when working from scaffolds. The program is aligned with the principles of CSA Z797 and supports employers in meeting their obligation to ensure workers are properly trained for the tasks they perform.
Through a series of engaging online lessons, participants will learn how to:
- Recognize common scaffold hazards and risk factors
- Understand scaffold tags and duty ratings
- Calculate scaffold loads and recognize load limitations
- Perform effective pre-use inspections
- Identify unsafe conditions and report concerns
- Access and exit scaffolds safely
- Apply safe work practices while working at height
- Use the TRACE decision-making process before using a scaffold
The course is delivered entirely online and can be completed from any computer, tablet, or mobile device. Participants can work through the training at their own pace and receive a certificate upon successful completion of the final assessment.
